"The complexity of logistics makes the planning of logistics centers especially challenging. A systematic overview and approach are essential, and this is precisely where our strengths lie. With our simulations, we can visualize complex transportation networks, test their efficiency and present possibilities for optimization – always keeping the overall situation in mind and with the goal of generating the largest possible added-value for you."
Meinrad Engeler, ASE
Whether it is developing a concept for a new logistics unit, or expanding or increasing the efficiency of an existing one, the demands placed nowadays on good planning are incredibly high and complex. Our systematic process optimization can offer valuable support in every aspect of project planning, whether it is a matter of reducing warehouse size, maximizing the level of service or transport flexibility, or simply cutting costs. Our logistics services can be broken down into three areas:
Our expertise allows us to test logistics concepts and identify critical bottlenecks starting with the initial planning stages. A new distribution and logistics center can be created, tested and optimized in a virtual setting without disrupting daily operations. Our sensitivity analyses allow us to determine if and in which form it makes sense to expand, or if a simple fine tuning in the system is all that is needed. This significantly minimizes the risk of making unnecessary investments.
By analyzing and simulating the overall logistics and transport chain we can test existing operating concepts. Efficient route planning, minimizing “empty trips” and analyzing potential are only some of the areas that our customers regularly ask us to investigate. We quickly identify the available potential for optimization in the operating process and determine which minor alterations could have positive effects.
The cost-intensive use of staff, rolling stock and staple materials needs to be optimized. To this end we compile demand forecasts as well as pricing strategies and calculate inter-dependencies over time. In the latter case, we identify seasonal fluctuations, trends or lulls in orders at an early stage, and provide personnel and material plans to fit demand. This allows our clients to work with a high degree of cost efficiency and puts them in a position to plan maintenance of rolling stock for slow periods and introduce price increases in peak periods (yield management).
